OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — Six men were charged for their role in a drive-by shooting in Olive Branch Monday night.
The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m.
WREG counted more than a dozen bullet holes in a home on Chateau Road.
A father and his 10-year-old son inside the home at the time were not injured.
Four of the suspects were from Memphis, one from Walls and one from Olive Branch.
Charged are Markease Alexander, Dionte Dickerson, Quintrelle Doss, Tondwin Lewis, James Rankin and Mark Williams.
All were charged with shooting into a dwelling, felony conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of a stolen firearm.
Each has a bond set of $1,555,000.
A car in which they were riding was stopped around 1:30 Tuesday morning by a DeSoto County Sheriff’s Deputy.
According to officials, the deputy stopped the car because the tag light was out and did not know the men inside were the suspects in the shooting.
Inside the car the deputy discovered numerous guns, including at least two which were reported stolen.
The six men were taken into custody.
On Tuesday afternoon several detectives were back in the neighborhood.
Inch by inch detectives canvassed the yard of the home riddled with bullet holes.
“It gets you concerned when people do things like that because you wonder what’s coming up next you know?” said Willie Johnson who lived next door.
He heard the gunshots and wants to know why his neighborhood was targeted.
“If you can’t feel comfortable at home where can you go?” he questioned.
Police didn’t release a motive, but Tuesday Olive Branch Police Chief Don Gammage didn’t hide his emotions.
“I’m very, very upset about this,” he said sternly. “If you want to come to Olive Branch and commit a violent felony or violent crime, we will deal with you.”
Gammage commended the hard work of detectives from the police department and deputies working together.
“We got on this as quick as we could and we stayed on it,” he said.
Gammage said all of the suspects have previous charges and the police department will be working with the District Attorney’s Office to be sure these guys remained off the streets.
“Hopefully it will be a long time before these guys see the outside again,” he said.
