MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A local organization that works with at-risk families and troubled teens said they need more space to serve young people.
The program director of the South Memphis Alliance asked the city for hundreds of thousands of dollars to redevelop a blighted building so they can move.
They’re asking for $650,000.
Council members agreed to take up the issue again in two weeks.
Council member Joe Brown said the main question was where the money would come from since the city was already facing major budget problems.
Brian Collins with the Department of Finance urged the council to proceed with caution before making a decision.
