MEMPHIS, Tenn. —  The Shelby County Sheriff’s office says that it is currently determining if charges will be filed following the accidental shooting death of a minor.

The incident happened just after 6:00 pm Monday on the 4300 block of Egyptian Cove.

Investigators say four-year-old Aabriel Jones, Jr. was found unresponsive on his parent’s bed with a gunshot wound.

The victim’s father, Aabriel Jones, Sr., says he was working outside in the yard when he hear a what sounded like a gunshot inside the home.

Jones, Sr. says he called 911 after finding his son.

There were also five other siblings inside the home at the time.

Jones, Sr. told investigators that his son must have been playing in his bed and found the gun.

The investigation is still ongoing.
