RAYMOND, Miss. — Two officers were injured by an inmate Thursday night at the Hinds County Detention Center near Jackson.

According to the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, SWAT teams were called in when they received a call that an officer was down.

Pod A was immediately locked down as officers assessed the situation from inside the detention center.

WJTV reported it was eventually determined that an inmate made physical contact with the two officers resulting in injuries.

The two officers were eventually taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay.

No word yet on the inmate involved in the situation.
