MARSHALL COUNTY, Miss. — Mardamiyne Sellers was charged with shooting a Marshall County Sheriffs Deputy, and now he’s in Desoto County Jail held on $2 million bond.
Sellers was charged with aggravated assault on a K9 officer.
“Are you sorry for what you did?” WREG asked him flat out.
“Yup,” he responded flatly.
Dressed in yellow, Sellars made his way into Marshall County Court Monday.
But the trouble started much earlier in the day.
Just after midnight, deputies got the call to respond to a domestic violence situation; a call they said they always take very seriously.
“These domestic violence calls are among the most dangerous calls law enforcement officers can make,” Sheriff Kenny Dickerson said.
The Sheriff said Sellers fired shots, barricaded himself in the house and then took off into the woods.
They eventually got him into custody without shooting him.
Something the Sheriff told WREG he was very proud of.
“That’s me,” Dickerson explained. “I never want to use more force than I have to.”
But Cody Spoons took a bullet to the arm.
The K9 officer is said to be ok, but will need several more surgeries.
Authorities said Sellers and his wife were known to fight, and officers have responded to several calls on their property, but Monday was the scariest.
The Sheriff listed off pervious calls.
“He reportedly threw clothing out of the car that belonged to her. He jacked her car up and took the wheels off. Stuff of that nature,” he explained.
Sellers’ bond was set at $2 million and could face domestic violence charges from this case down the road.
Since he allegedly fired at a Marshall County Deputy, Sellers was booked into the Desoto County jail as a precaution.
He’s back in court Friday.
