CORDOVA, Tenn. — “Two hours after drivers knocked down two power poles here at Germantownn Parkway and Fischer Steel Road, traffic was still backed up.

All this was not just a inconvenience for drivers, but businesses in the area as well.

Employees inside Maui Teeth Whitening heard the crash and then lost power.

Owner Shelley Taylor even ran into the street to try to direct traffic away from the live wires.

“I didn’t go in the middle of the road, but I did stand to the side telling them to stop, don’t go any farther,” she said.

The drivers involved int he crash are expected to be okay, but knocked out power to around 4,400 MLGW customers.

Taylor had to cancel morning appointments.

The owner of the Floor Depot next door was prepared for the worst, but within an hour the lights were back on.

“I thought this could be an all day affair, but luckily we are back up and running,” he said.

Across the street, through a number of businesses, including an animal hospital and a Wendy’s still had no power.

No power meant no burgers and no customers.

WREG was told the power was back up and running by 11:30 a.m.
