SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — The Mississippi RiverKings unveiled their new logo and colors at the Landers Center in Southaven Tuesday morning.
According to the organization, input from the fans is what ultimately the decision ultimately came down to.
“This was a change we had discussed over the course of the last 18 months, and it’s very exciting to get the new mark into the community,” RiverKings Director of Business Operations David Schmoll said. “We had such a great response from our throwback jerseys in 2012-13 that when we sat down to really discuss the rebrand, the black and gold color scheme was something we kept coming back to. We wanted to honor the long history of hockey in the Mid-South while also creating a timeless logo that will stand the test of time.”
Now in their 24th season, the professional hockey team said they are returning to their roots, using black, gold and white as their primary colors.
The new logo pays homage to the original team logo by incorporating an “M” in front of a shield with the word “RiverKings” across the front.
If you would like to purchase merchandise with the new logo, contact the “Locker Room” Merchandise store at (662) 342-1755 or order online at RiverKings.com
The home opener is slated for Friday, October 23 at the Landers Center in Southaven.
