MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Firefighters evacuated a building at A.W. Willis Avenue and Front Street after construction workers hit a gas main in the area.

According to Memphis Light Gas and Water, a private construction crew cut into a five-inch stud Wednesday afternoon.

MLGW crews responded to the situation and repaired the leak by 3 p.m.

One lane on Front Street was shut down as crews made repairs.

Neighboring businesses said their work was not majorly affected by the evacuations.

No injuries were reported.
