BOSTON — A group of kids and passengers aboard an MBTA bus in Boston got quite a surprise when the bus driver pulled over a did something out of the kindness of his heart.
According to Boston.com, MBTA bus driver John Lohan was cruising through his normal route on Thursday when he decided to pull over and buy everyone on board a cool glass of refreshing lemonade.
“I said to them, ‘If any of you are in a hurry or need to make a connection, I’ll keep going’,” Lohan told Boston.com.
The surprised passengers didn’t object; nor did the young children running the lemonade stand at 2:30 p.m. on a hot summer day.
To make the story even more interesting, Lohan made a surprising confession to reporters who heard about his story afterwards: the stop wasn’t a spur of the moment thing.
In fact, Lohan had seen the lemonade stand more than an hour earlier when he was driving through the area.
It was then that he decided on his next round no matter how many passengers were on his bus, he would stop if nobody was in a hurry.
Not only would it make an impact on his passengers, but it would also give the young children sitting on the side of the road a great thrill and a lasting memory.
The act of kindness didn’t take more than a minute and a half, and it only cost him 50 cents a person.
