SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — Wednesday morning, Courtney Knight walked out of the Southaven Municipal Court, saw our cameras and took off in a big hurry.

“I don’t want to be on the camera, so you can get me off it,” she said to our reporter. “If you put me on the news I’m suing, I swear to God. Get the camera off of me.”

Knight was charged with misdemeanor false pretense appeared in court just long enough to ask the judge for a continuance to get an attorney.

WREG first told you about Knight back in June when we received information she was possibly running a puppy scam.

According to alleged victims, Knight posted Facebook pictures of puppies who were supposedly for sale, and then asked victims to send a deposit.

In June we spoke to Sherri Smith who was trying to find a dog for her 39th wedding anniversary.

She told us she met Knight in Southaven, gave her a $150 deposit and then never saw the promised pup.

Smith wasn’t the only one who Knight supposedly scammed.

WREG found people in Memphis, Mississippi, and even as far away as West Virginia who had all sent her money thinking they would soon be adding a brand new puppy to their family.

She was even recently arrested on shoplifting charges in Bartlett and was returned to Southaven.

While Knight was adamant on Wednesday that she not appear on camera, she did tell us by phone she would give us an interview in the future, if we didn’t use the video of her running from us at court.

She said we caught her off guard and pointed out her case hasn’t even been heard yet.

“And I said I would be willing to do an interview with ya’ll face-to-face that I don’t mind being ran on the news. But this I do,” she said in a phone interview.

As far as any response to her victims, Knight only had three words.

“Only I’m sorry,” she said.

She was scheduled to be back in court on August 26.
