MEMPHIS – While March Madness is just getting underway, let’s not forget that the NFL Draft is just over a month away.
That’s why the Memphis Tigers held their annual Pro Day on Tuesday out at South campus.
Two dozen Tigers getting a chance to grab the eye of the NFL scouts in attendance in what is a huge day for those players that didn’t get an invite to the combine. Players like linebacker Chandler Martin and running back Mario Anderson.
Then there’s guys like star quarterback Seth Henigan, who was at the combine, performed well at the combine and used Tuesday’s Pro Day as another chance to boost his NFL stock.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to have been able to go to the Senior Bowl and go to the combine. So whenever those opportunities knock, you’ve got to answer the door,” Henigan said. “I felt like I did that.”
Snubbed for an invite to the combine last month, Anderson and Martin hoping they impressed enough during Pro Day to earn a look from an NFL team.
“I’ll never be satisfied. Overall, I had a pretty good day, though,” Anderson said. “Feel like I came out here and competed and that was the biggest thing.”
“Feel like the instincts are there, physicality’s there, speed’s there,” Martin said. “Just really only takes one team to really believe.”
The NFL Draft is set for April 24-26 in Green Bay.
