MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was convicted Thursday of causing more than $10,000 of damage to his ex-girlfriend’s Cordova home after she told him to move out, Shelby County district attorney general Amy Weirich said Friday.
Jerry Williams, 51, broke into the home on Chariden Drive in October 2013.
He damaged furniture, kitchen appliances, clothing, a china cabinet and two sets of china. He also poured bleach on carpets throughout the house.
A jury convicted Williams of aggravated burglary and vandalism over $10,000.
In fact, the ex-girlfriend told WREG in April 2014 that the repairs added up to more than $50,000. She had moved into the home only four months prior to the incident.
She told WREG that Williams had threatened to damage her house and had previously flooded another girlfriend’s house.
Williams is currently free on a $20,000 bond and will be sentenced August 21.
