MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis air is getting better with time.
According to the SelfStorage.com Moving Blog, Memphis made the seventh-best progress of the 100 largest metro areas in improving its air quality. The study, which used Environment Protection Agency data, measured the percentage improvement of number of days that had good air quality from 2010 through 2014.
In 2014, Memphis saw 240 days, or 65.8 percent of the year, with good air quality. That is a 65.52 percent improvement from 2010, in which only 39.7 percent of the year had good days for air quality.
St. Louis topped the list with a 220.45 percent improvement over five years. Four other Southern cities made the top 10: New Orleans (4), Baton Rouge, Louisiana (5), Little Rock, Arkansas (9), and Charlotte, North Carolina (10). Chattanooga, Tennessee, came in at the 12th spot.
