FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A new program in Arkansas aims to help kids who are exposed to violence.
U.S. Attorney Conner Eldridge announced the A-Chance Initiative Wednesday in a news release.
According to THV11, the program will be implemented in 13 different schools in six counties in western Arkansas at first, and is meant to notify schools when a child is involved in any violent, criminal or traumatic event.
The hope is once the school is aware of the situation, they will be better able to help the child through it.
It is expected to begin immediately when school starts on August 17 in Washington, Sebastian, Crawford, Clark, and Ouachita counties.
