MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Lemoyne Owen College is gearing up to celebrate its newest President, Rev. Dr. Christopher B. Davis.
Davis is being celebrated in grand style as he is set to become the institution’s 14th President on Friday.
“I am over the moon. I am beyond excited about not only what this means for me but what this means for our institution,” Davis said.
In 2023, Davis became interim president. The following year, the position became permanent.
“One of the things we have to be intentional about is telling the Lemoyne story, and something I tell people all the time is we want to recapture the narrative,” Davis said. “I have approximately, around 850 bosses. I have 15 members of the board of trustees, I have roughly 140 members of the faculty and staff, and almost 700 students, so someone is always giving me some orders.”

One of the first lines of order, as the university sets out to celebrate its soon-to-be inaugurated president, was to host this symposium, welcoming other HBCU presidents in order to have deep discussions on how to turn dreams into reality.
“We believe that the success of Memphis and the success of Lemoyne Owen are inextricably tied together,” Davis said.
The inauguration for Dr. Christopher B. Davis will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Orpheum. The community is invited to celebrate the college’s newest president.
