BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. — Doctors sayAlicia Williams may never walk again.
The 20-year-old is stuck in the hospital in Memphis with a bullet lodged in her body.
Williams is one of 12 people shot on Anderson Street Saturday night in Blytheville, Arkansas.
“It’s going to be a slow process right now, you know? They don’t know if she going to be able to walk or not, you know, right now,” Cutoy Armstrong, Williams’ aunt, said. “So, we just got to take one day at a time.”
Williams’ family said their loved one was broken after being shot but also after losing her best friend, Adline King.
“She was in a lot of pain, just hurt. She lost her friend. You know? That’s something hurt. It’s just sad people losing their life over dumb, petty stuff,” Armstrong told WREG.
Police and prosecutors are begging people to fork over information.
In Sunday’s news conference, law enforcement said almost no one is saying they saw anything despite there being more than 50 people at the crime scene.
“Boom, boom, boom,” an unidentified neighbor described the gunshots.
A man, who did not want his face on camera out of fear of retaliation, heard the gunshots on Saturday and saw people stampeding down the street.
The neighbor said most of the people who were there during the shooting will likely never tell police what they saw because of so-called street codes, like no snitching.
The man also said many people in the community surrounding Anderson Street do not have faith in law enforcement.
“Even when people are talking to the police or cooperating with them — you still basically get the same results. You know what I’m saying? To be honest with you — which is nothing,” the unidentified neighbor said.
Police in Blytheville refused to answer any questions during their press conference on Sunday.
WREG went back to the police station and even emailed in some questions on Monday, which have yet to be answered.
