MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee Board of Parole denied parole for Noura Jackson due to the seriousness of the offense.
Jackson had been convicted in 2009 for the second-degree murder of her mother, whom she was accused of stabbing at least 50 times in 2005.
In a new trial in May, Jackson took an Alford plea on voluntary manslaughter charges.
The parole hearing happened Monday at the Mark Luttrell Correctional Center.
Prior to the hearing, Jackson declined to appear at the hearing and said she did not want to be on parole but rather serve out her sentence. However, the law requires a hearing takes place.
Jackson’s sentence is due to expire in March 2017.
