MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was arrested on a variety of charges after being pulled over during a traffic stop.

According to an affidavit, an officer noticed a white Ford SUV driving up and down a street Saturday morning. Upon running the tags, the officer realized they belonged to a different car.

That officer and two others conducted a traffic stop at I-40 and Sycamore View Road in which they pulled over the car, which was being driven by James Ferrell, 35.

Ferrell was driving on a suspended license; it had been revoked more than two years ago for a DUI.

Officers inspected the vehicle and found a wooden case containing two syringes, which later tested positive for heroin.

They also found several “burglary tools” and pieces of paper that listed addresses with descriptions of the homes and items in the homes.

Ferrell and the car’s passenger, Thomas Turner, were taken into custody.

Ferrell admitted to checking out the area for the purposes of coming back to steal things. Turner denied any involvement.

Ferrell is being held on a $50,000 bond and will appear in court Monday.
