MARYLAND — Two men have been arrested after police suspected they tried to smuggle pornography and drugs into a state prison in Maryland.
The men have not been identified yet, but police said they spotted the suspects outside the prison in Cumberland sometime Saturday.
They had a drone, a handgun, and contraband inside their car.
Police said they were using the drone to fly synthetic marijuana and pornographic DVDs into the maximum-security prison.
Officials inside the prison later found an inmate who had similar contraband inside his cell.
The two suspects were arrested, while the inmate was charged.
This is not the first time people have tried using drones to smuggle contraband into prisons.
According to BBC, earlier this month a fight erupted after a drone dropped drugs into a prison yard in Ohio.
Nine prisoners were sent to solitary confinement for the incident.
There have also been reported instances in South Carolina.
