LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas Department of Education has set the date of completion for a review of the state’s math and English/Language Arts standards.

According to THV11, the standards must be reviewed by this upcoming summer.

On Tuesday, Education Commissioner Johnny Key announced 75 math teachers and 75 English teachers would be recruited to work on the committee, who’s first meeting is scheduled for October.

Public input and comments would be taken sometimes in March or April.

The move comes after the Governor’s Council on Common Core recommended the state continue to use Common Core, but also look at ways to modify the standards to fit the state.

Fund for the review was included in the Department’s budget.
