With the October election just a couple of weeks away, WREG has compiled all of the information you need to know to make election day as smooth as possible.
Below you’ll find polling locations, a sample ballot and all the information you need to know about early voting.
Early Voting
Early voting begins twenty days before election day on Friday, September 18 at 10 a.m. From then until October 3, voters will be allowed to vote weekdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
On weekends, the polls open at 10 a.m. and close at 4 p.m.
There are 16 different sites voters can go to throughout the city.

In addition, those voters in nursing homes are also given the opportunity to vote early. Election Officials started traveling to different nursing homes in the area on September 8, making it easier on those residents to participate and cast their vote.
If they haven’t made it to your location yet, don’t worry. They will continue to make the rounds until September 22.

Polling location on Election Day
On Election Day, voters must go to their designated polling place in order to cast a vote. The Election Commission also has a handy tool called the Precinct Locator on their website that you can use to figure out where you need to go.
Identification when Voting
When you arrive at the voting locations, you will be asked to show a photo ID.
According to the state government website, several forms of identification are acceptable when trying to vote, granted they have not expired.
- Tennessee Drivers License with your photo
- United States Passport
- Photo ID from the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security
- Photo Id from the federal or Tennessee state goverment
- United States Military ID
- Tennessee handgun carry permit with photo ID
Sample Ballot
With ten candidates running for Mayor, nine City Council seats up for grabs and eight people running for the Memphis City Court Clerk position, voters this election year have many names to go through and several tough decisions to make.
That’s why the Election Commission went ahead and released a sample ballot for voters to look over in order to make Election Day go that much more smoothly.
