HELENA-WEST HELENA —  A witness in a capital murder case told WREG she was afraid someone would attack her as retaliation.

The defense attorney in the capital murder case was accused of giving his client, who was put on trial, personal information about the witness.

The victim said the last time she was a witness in a murder, someone shot outside her home.

That witness was in tears when WREG spoke with her Friday.

“At night I have to worry about is my kids okay, or when they walking to the bus stop is somebody going to do something to them,” she said.

The woman, who said she was a witness in a capital murder case, said her friend called her as soon as she saw her personal information on Facebook.

“I`m very worried and all my information. The whole world done saw my social security number and my name and my date of birth. The important stuff, it`s on Facebook,” she explained.

The new Police Chief, Virgil Green, said this stemmed from a double murder earlier this year.

He said Jimmy Brown ,who’s  accused of shooting a security guard and another person at the E-COP Center in March is currently on trial right now.

“He was at a hearing about a week ago where his defense attorney provided him with the entire packet that the police department submitted to the prosecutor. The prosecutor in return gave it to the defense attorney,” he stated.

Green said Elliott Wilson, the defense attorney, then gave the information to his client.

Green said Brown then gave the information to his family members.

Yasmeen Brown, Jimmy`s sister, was the one who allegedly put the information on Facebook.

She was charged with intimidating a witness.

“We could be dealing with another homicide all because of some people not following through with making sure that the information that they`re giving to their clients doesn`t have any kind of information related to those people that have cooperated,” Green stated.

“It’s seven years of pain and stress, I’ve been around here and living in hell. Seriously it feels like I’m living in hell,” said the witness.

WREG reached out to Wilson, but he did not return our phone calls.

Yasmeen Brown was released from jail after paying her $5,000 bond.
