MEMPHIS, Tenn. —  A  Memphis man has been indicted on two counts of aggravated assault and other charges after a February incident at Christian Brothers University.

Felipe Echaurren,22, allegedly pulled a gun on two security officers as they approached his parked car.

It’s unclear why he was initially approached, but we do know the officers warned him they were armed when they were moving towards the vehicle, demanding he get out.

Echaurren reportedly began to question their authority and told them he had a gun of his own.

That’s when he pulled out a gun and pointed it at the officers.

The officers opened fire, hitting the suspect’s black Mercedes and Echaurren in the head.

He suffered a minor head wound.

As he sped away, officers were able to get his license tag number and track him down to an apartment in the 3400 block of Carnes.

He was taken into custody, and the BB pistol in his car was entered into evidence.

During the investigation, it was also discovered that Echaurren had also been altering VIN numbers on two cars in order to obtain loans worth $3,300.

He was charged with theft of property over $1,000 and altering or destroying motor vehicle identification numbers for those crimes.
