MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Nearly 60,000 people could attend the University of Memphis versus Ole Miss game Saturday at the Liberty Bowl.
Between the Cooper-Young BeerFest that starts at 1 p.m. and the football game starting at 11 a.m., that means traffic in the area is going to get busy.
Memphis Police advised if you’re going to the game, you should arrive at least two hours early.
Amanda Lapp who lives near the Liberty Bowl doesn’t plan on leaving her home on game day because she doesn’t want to deal with traffic.
“On game day, probably like starting at least an hour and a half to two hours before the game, the overflow starts coming to our street and it’s pretty nonstop, up and down for the whole game,” she said.
Traffic from the game isn’t the only thing she has to worry about.
Some people who aren’t going to the game will attend The Cooper Young BeerFest .
Memphis Police said they will adjust traffic signals and the direction of traffic Saturday.
Patrick House who’s going to the game said he has been planning ahead.
“I Iive downtown. I plan on leaving by 8:30 to get down and try to get here by nineish, so a couple hours early for sure,” he stated.
Police said drivers should also pay attention to the message boards that will have traffic details.
Fans want to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Memphis police also recommend that you seek alternate routes.
Police also said due to pre-sales of parking slots, the remaining Liberty Bowl paid parking will only be available at gates 10 and 11.
They said entrance for paid parking slots will be expedited at gate 11 which is Southern and Early Maxwell.
Pedestrians will only be allowed to cross from the east side of Hollywood at gate one.
