MISSION, Texas — Talk about a spooky situation.
A homeowner in Mission was a little unnerved after a renovation crew recently unearthed a coffin in her backyard just days before Halloween.
CBS 4 reported Deedee Oliveira had just moved into Elm Street when she was told about the discovery.
“I’m like, ‘A coffin? What do you mean a coffin,” Olivera told the news station. “I can’t even explain it, it was huge, it had the handles. It was really rusted, and it had bags wrapped around it.”
Investigators were immediately called to the scene.
Inside the coffin, were booties, little pink bears and even bones.
Of course, any homeowner in the same situation would be thinking the worse, but her next door neighbor was soon able to put her at ease.
Nearly 30 years ago, the previous homeowners had buried their dog in the backyard.
The coffin was even buried next to another box with cat bones inside, proving it was just a family’s pet cemetery.
