MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis teen is getting national recognition and has been named as one of Time magazine’s 30 Most Influential Teens of 2015.
WREG has told you about Moziah Bridges, the teen who started his own bow tie business, Mo’s Bows, when he was only 9 years old.
WREG’s Katie Rufener was actually the one to tell Bridges’ family about the Time article and sat down with him for an exclusive interview Wednesday.
Little scraps of fabric turned a little dream into a huge business for Moziah, now 13.
“I had a great time getting up to this point,” he said. “I’ve sold many ties. I’ve been on Shark Tank. I’ve been on lots of TV. I had a great summer. I met the president!”
Mo’s Bows now brings in around $200,000 a year, and he is only in eighth grade.
Now, he is listed in Time‘s 30 Most Influential Teens of 2015, an honor also bestowed to kids like activist Malala Yousafzai and Malia Obama.
“I was amazed to be on the list with so many people, these big-name actresses and models,” Moziah said.
The teen businessman wants to have his own clothing line by the age of 20, but do not think for a second the fame has gone to his head.
Moziah said one of his biggest goals is to give back to Memphis.
“I do that by having this tie called the Go Mo Scholarship Tie,” he said. “One hundred percent of the proceeds go to help kids go to summer camp.”
Moziah’s mother, Tramica Morris, said while she is amazed every day by his accomplishments, she knows this is just the beginning for a bright future ahead.
“Just running a successful clothing line, a successful business. He’s thinking Mo’s Clothes!”
“Dream big,” Moziah said. “You can do it. You can be anything that you want.”
