GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — The case of cat found alive with an arrow in its neck in eastern Tennessee has attracted a $5,000 award for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, known as PETA, is offering the reward on top of another $750 reward from other groups.

The Greeneville Sun reported the cat was found on Oct. 22 with an arrow through its neck and shoulder. The local Humane Society has named the cat Miracle Milligan, after the street where it was found. The cat is recovering from surgery.

PETA says in a release it’s important to keep cats indoors, to protect them from being hurt, lost or stolen.

People with information on the case are being urged to contact Greeneville Police.
