MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police believe the Saturday shooting in the 1600 block of Holmes Road, which injured two teens, was accidental.

The 15-year-old victim of that shooting told police he was with his 16-year-old friend at the time. He said the friend had his hands in his pockets, and the gun “just went off,” shooting him in the foot and the 16-year-old in the hand.

The 15-year-old was transported to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in noncritical condition, and the 16-year-old fled the scene on foot, police said.

While police were looking for the suspect, they received another call about a shooting. When they responded to the 5400 block of Lochnivar Road, they found the suspect suffering from a gunshot wound to his hand. He was also transported to Le Bonheur in noncritical condition.

The suspect admitted to police he had a gun, but he said he gave it to another friend.

The suspect was issued a juvenile summons for unlawful possession of a weapon.
