NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Police in Nashville have issued an alert after seeing a recent increase in “movie money” being distributed in the area.
The $100 bills are only intended for movie sets, but they have found their way into business across the area.
To make matters worse, businesses aren’t taking the time to closely inspect the bills customers are handing them.
“It kind of caught me off-guard. They look so real if you don’t read them it’s easy to get taken,” said Woodbury Police Chief Lowell Womak.
So how can you tell the difference between a prop and the real thing?
Very easily.
“It says for motion picture use only just across the top and on the back for motion picture use only,” said Womak.
And it’s not just Nashville who could be having this problem.
Womak told WTVF, it’s likely more of the bills will soon be passed throughout the state of Tennessee.
