MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police Officer Connor Schilling will have an administrative hearing by the end of the week , confirmed the Memphis Police Department.

During a news conference on November 3, Director Toney Armstrong said Schilling would receive summons for an administrative hearing on Wednesday, November 4.

WREG sat down with the president of the Memphis Police Association, Mike Williams, to talk about what this would mean for the officer.

He told us Schilling would have to answer to charges he violated radio and handcuff procedures, and could face a number of punishments.

“From an oral reprimand all the way to a firing,” Williams said. “Because of the circumstances surrounding this, they may try to fire him.”

Schilling made the traffic stop back in July on Hickory Hill.

Darrius Stewart, 19, was a passenger wanted on two felony warrants.

MPD said Stewart was in the back of a  squad car when he attacked Schilling, at one point with his own cuffs.

That’s when Schilling shot him.

Schilling’s case recently went before a Shelby County Grand Jury who refused to send the case to trial.
