CORDOVA, Tenn. — A Cordova homeowner said his postman manhandled his mail, and he said he has the whole thing on video to prove it.

The man did not want to be identified but said he does want the post office to take action.

His security camera caught video of when his mailman came to deliver a package. The mailman tries to fit the box inside the mailbox, but when it will not fit, he chucks it at the door.

“It sounded like someone kicked my front door,” the homeowner said.

He said the package contained Christmas gifts for his kids. It was not damaged, but he said it very easily could have been.

“I was angry. I have relatives that work for the post office, decades with the post office, and that’s unacceptable.”

WREG could not reach out to the postal service for comment Wednesday, because of the holiday, but a neighbor, Angela Lee, said she has never had a problem with that particular mailman before.

“He’s friendly,” she said. “He comes up to the door all the time.”

However, Lee said she has had an issue with another postal carrier.

“The package wouldn’t fit in the mailbox. So she didn’t even try to knock on the door or anything. I was here waiting for it.”

The homeowner we talked to said he does not want the mailman fired, but he does hope the postal service has a serious conversation with him about respecting other people’s property.

“If you take a job, you should have respect for what you do, take pride in what you do, and if you need a personal day, you should take a personal day.”

The homeowner called the postal service Tuesday and his local post office to complain.

He said they told him the issue would be investigated, but no one asked to see the video.
