MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Getting the most out of your Comcast internet service could mean changing your habits on the internet.
The company said don’t overdo it or you’ll shell out extra cash to pay for it.
Comcast rolled out more data to its users but now they’ll charge for data overages.
Some customers are not happy about it.
Just like on your cell phone when you pay for data usage, Comcast is doing something similar.
Calvin Austin was shocked when he got a letter in the mail saying he may have to pay more for his bill.
“I wanted to disconnect my service with them, and it won’t be long before I will,” he said.
“No that’s not right, you get paid to use it as much as you want, it’s just like they keep on adding on more fees,” said Tim Jurkowski, a Comcast customer.
If you use more than 300 gigabytes in a month, which is about 100 times more than a lot of cell phone plans, Comcast will start charging you more.
“Generally speaking, 92 percent come nowhere near that, they’re usually around 40 gigabytes a month,” said Alex Horwitz with Comcast.
Comcast said there is an unlimited data plan for $35 more dollars every month, and it started this policy to keep prices down for most customers who don’t come close to the data limit.
