Health educators with Methodist Healthcare North are hosting a town hall meeting Thursday to make the public more aware of health and wellness issues.
It’s the first time they are hosting a meeting of this kind locally.
They are doing it because they come across a number of people who don’t know about the services available right here in their community.
The health educators want to educate the public because so many people are asking questions. The purpose of the meeting is to get feedback from you.
Health partners want to know how they can provide better services so that when you get sick, you will know what’s out there and who to call.
They also plan to talk about ways to keep you from coming to the emergency room frequently.
“We have the busiest emergency department in the region, we’re on pace to see over 72,000 patients coming to the ED this year, which is unheard of for a facility this size,” Jonathan Watkins of Methodist Healthcare said. “We really want to educate them on some of the other services that are available to them outside of using the emergency department.”
Christ Community Health Services is partnering with the hospital.
A panel discussion will also take place.
The town hall meeting will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Breath of Life Christian Center. The public is asked to arrive 30 minutes early because a huge turnout is expected.
The event is free.
