MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Shelby County Commission has voted to override a veto from Mayor Mark Luttrell.
That veto was an attempt to block the council from hiring its own attorney.
The Wednesday vote was 9-3.
In October, the council voted to hire Julian Bolton to represent its concerns.
Bolton is a former commissioner.
Mayor Luttrell, who thinks the hiring violates the charter, vetoed the resolution.
Commission members think it is a conflict of interest to use the same attorney as the mayor.
