MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis man is behind bars, accused of kidnapping a teenager in Whitehaven and trying to have sex with her.

Jeremy Woodard, 29, is facing aggravated kidnapping, sexual battery and solicitation of a minor charges.

Police said he picked up the teen on Elvis Presley Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. Friday and offered to take her home to the Peppertree Apartments. But instead, investigators said Woodard took the teen to Goodwill Park, where he attacked her.

The victim was able to grab the steering wheel and swerve the car in front of a police car patrolling the park to get the officer’s attention.

Woodard is expected in court tomorrow.
