MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man who raped a social worker as she made home visits was convicted on Wednesday.
It took the jury less than 20 minutes to find Mario Bowles guilty of aggravated and especially aggravated rape in the incident that happened on October 2, 2013.
The victim told investigators she was making a visit to Bowles’ home in the Hickory Hill area when it happened.
As she entered the residence, Bowles locked the door, put his hand over her mouth and put a knife to her throat.
After he raped her, the victim said he apologized saying he had been drinking and using cocaine.
He then made her wash herself, pray with him and swear not to tell police.
Sentencing in this case is scheduled for January 11.
