MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two locals are behind bars, accused of using a baby stroller to steal from a local store.
Charles Ballard and Amanda Kemp were arrested and charged with theft of property on Monday.
According to police documents, the assistant manager of the Buckle store on North Germantown Parkway was doing a walk through when he noticed the pair trying to conceal jeans.
Ballard stuffed one pair inside the baby stroller while Kemp stuck another inside her purse.
They then turned and walked out of the store.
After being detained by Memphis Police, an employee at another store told officers they had found another pair of jeans hidden underneath their clothing.
Ballard admitted to stealing that pair as well.
All three pairs, valued at nearly $300 total, were returned to Buckles.
Kemp appeared in court on Tuesday.
Ballard is scheduled to appear on January 14.
