The University of Missouri is self-imposing a post season ban after an investigation revealed numerous NCAA violations under a previous men’s basketball coaching staff.

According to the Athletic Department, the violations occurred as early as 2011, and did not involve any of the current staff.

They said at this point there is no reason to believe any of them knew about the violations.

“We are obviously very disappointed that the actions of a few individuals have put our program in this situation,” said Kim Anderson, the head coach of the basketball team.

“I hurt for our kids more than anything and for our only senior Ryan Rosburg in particular, but I am confident we will overcome this and be stronger as a team and as a staff because of it. We are committed to representing this great university and state with honor and integrity and that’s what we are going to do,” he went on to say.

From 2011 to 2014, a donor to the athletic program provided “impermissible benefits” to 11 athletes and three members of the students’ family.

Those included reduced rates at local hotels and meals among other things.

Another donor was caught providing housing, cash, transportation, iPads, meals and gym memberships to three student athletes and a prospective student athlete from 2013 to 2014.

During that instance, they were also compensated for hours they didn’t work through a summer internship program.

The NCAA said the university failed to fully vet the program before the internships began.

They also didn’t fully follow-up once it was complete, they said.

The governing body also found several other minor infractions as well.

“We have already taken many proactive steps to address concerns, including appropriate self-imposed sanctions. We will win at Mizzou and do so with integrity and class. I am satisfied the University fully cooperated with the NCAA and will continue to do so. We must do better and we will. Our working relationship with the current men’s basketball staff is strong and I am confident in their commitment to upholding our standards and values for Mizzou Athletics,” said Director of Athletics Mack Rhoades.
