MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are investigating three crimes that happened on Titus early Thursday morning.

The series of crimes were somewhat confusing, but at least one police report noted all three crimes were somehow related.

They happened within minutes of each other, shortly after midnight.

One crime involved a burglary, another involved a robbery with shots fired, and the third involved a shooting.

“It’s not right,” said Sherron Lark, whose husband, Erick, was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Lark spent part of Thursday packing up her apartment because of what happened.

“We heard some yelling outside,” Lark said.

Lark said her husband told her he was going outside to smoke, so she would not worry.

Really, he went outside to help.

“He yelled at the person that was trying to, you know, that was robbing somebody, and they started shooting,” she said.

The first bullet hit her door.

The second hit Erick.

“He kept saying ‘I’m fixing to go,’ I said, ‘No, you ain’t. Tell me how much you love me.’ Kept talking. I said, ‘You love me, right? He said, ‘Yeah.’ I said, ‘You’re going to stay with me.'”

Lark believed the suspects shot her husband after they terrorized several others.

Police said someone broke into an upstairs apartment while a woman and baby were inside.

The woman said a masked man forced her into her living room and stole her phone.

She reported hearing male voices.

That police report said up to three suspects were possibly involved.

Also, police said two suspects robbed a man leaving that apartment.

They took $800 dollars and shot at the car he was in.

The manager of the complex, Rick Isom, said he did not get a good look but said he thought he saw a hooded man before Erick was shot.

“I guess that’s how he got shot. He must have stepped to the door,” Isom said.

Lark said doctors believe her husband is going to be okay, even though he was placed on a breathing tube and needs another surgery.

Despite hitting so many people, the suspects’ descriptions were vague.

Police information and witness accounts referenced men in hoodies.
