MEMPHIS, Tenn. –The postal worker who attacked a supervisor at the Post Office on South Third has been indicted on federal charges.

Richard Martin was arrested on Monday and was wanted on charges of aggravated assault and civil rights intimidation.

He was arrested at his home Monday morning by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Patrol Crime Response Unit.

The victim told police Martin came into her office, screamed racial slurs at her and punched her.

He then reportedly beat her with a chair.

The victim suffered injuries to her eye, police said.

Police said Martin has a history of violence in the workplace, but a USPS representative said he has no history of violence at USPS.
