MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis firefighter is recovering after suffering a minor injury while battling a house fire in Whitehaven.

The fire started just before 2 a.m. Thursday at a house at the corner of Sidney & Brownlee — which is just a few blocks from Elvis Presley & Raines.

Lt. Wayne Cooke with the Memphis Fire Dept. said the firefighter suffered the injury to his shoulder while searching the house after the fire was put out.

He was taken to Methodist South Hospital where he was treated and released.

Two adults and three children were inside the house when the fire started. They all got out safely.

The American Red Cross was called in to provide assistance to the family.

Investigators said the fire was caused by malfunctioning power lines in the back of the home that ignited in the attic area.
