MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The man accused of raping a 12-year-old girl is free on bond Thursday afternoon.
Volon Sexton, 62, appeared in court where his bond was set at $75,000.
He paid it and was ordered to reappear before a judge at the end of February.
According to investigators, the girl told them Sexton, who was like a father to her, was drunk when he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
She said she was scared because he usually carries a gun.
The girl told her parents about the incident when she got home.
Sexton was charged with rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery.
