MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man has been charged with DUI after hitting a Memphis police officer.

The officer is recovering after he was injured in an overnight crash near Wolfchase Galleria Mall.

Police say the officer was westbound on Highway 64 when an SUV pulled out of the mall’s parking lot and hit the cruiser.

Police say the officer was on a non-emergency call at the time of the crash.

Joshua Solange, 32, is charged with DUI, public intoxication and reckless driving.

Police say Solange was pulling out of the Bahama Breeze parking lot at the time of the crash.

The officer was taken to St. Francis Hospital-Bartlett with non-life threatening injuries and has been released.
