MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A homeowner in the Berclair area confronted a man trying to ransack his garage, and it was all caught on his home security cameras.

Ron Moses bought the cameras, because someone kept stealing the jalapeno peppers from his garden on Truman.

Little did he know, the devices would catch a bolder crime.

A Volkswagen Beetle pulled into his neighbor’s driveway last week.

The footage shows a stranger get out of the car, walk to his side fence then lurk around his garage all while Moses and his wife were sipping coffee inside.

“I happened to see my saw sitting outside of my garage door, and my garage door open,” said Moses.

The cameras were still rolling as the couple walked outside and then came face-to-face with the suspect.

“My wife brings me my gun, I make him sit down, and she’s calling 911,” he said.

Moses said he pointed the gun at the thief for several minutes waiting for police to show up.

“Just before the police get here, he basically calls my bluff and says ‘If you’re going to shoot me, you’re going to shoot me, and I’m leaving,'” said Moses.

The thief causally walked to the front of the home, hopped the fence and drove off in his black beetle with red doors.

The story isn’t over though.

Moses’ neighbors, who had seen the video, said the guy came back in the same car this weekend. He apparently tried to steal from them too.

“He goes into his yard, and, you know, his neighbor sees him and runs him off,” said Moses.

While the suspect may have dodged police yet again, Moses is convinced his cameras will eventually solve the crime.

He’s posted a screen shot of the suspect’s car on social media, and said he’s received some good tips.

Police have yet to say whether any arrests have been made or if this incident is connected to other crimes.
