PANOLA CO., Miss. — A mix of raw emotions now hangs over the area in the wake of Quinton Tellis’ indictment in Jessica Chambers’ murder.
Wednesday was a busy day at the M and M First Stop off Highway 51, the last place Chambers was seen alive.
The owner of the convenience store didn’t want to talk on camera but told WREG all customers could talk about was Quinton Tellis’ indictment in the teenager’s heinous murder.
“They need to be locked up like an animal, whatever happened. Jessica didn’t deserve to die like that. She was just a baby,” said Kathryn Barnes.
Barnes told WREG she use to be a neighbor of the family and watched Jessica grow up.
The mother of three is thankful after 14 months, investigators believe the murder mystery is over.
“We live around here, and you don’t know who might be the killer. The whole time he might be around here and didn’t even know it,” said Barnes.
Some folks around town are skeptical Tellis killed Chambers.
“If they got the right guy, good riddance; but I hope they got the right guy,” said resident Terance Chapman.
In Wednesday’s news conference, District Attorney Don Champion said he’s pretty confident the evidence against Tellis will stick.
