MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis’ latest murder victim is a Navy veteran and grandfather of five.
He was found shot to death in his home in Southwest Memphis.
Family members say they hadn’t heard from Albert Farmer Jr. for a week, so they went to check on him at his home on West Holmes near Crossfield this afternoon.
Moments later, they called police.
“It’s sad we never thought we would be a part of the homicide issue going on in Memphis, Tennessee,” said the victim’s sister Sandra McCall. “I was the last person who spoke to him.”
She said she talked to him just after Farmer posted a picture on Facebook at an East Memphis bowling alley.
“Family became concerned, because no one had heard from him,” said McCall.
Police have no idea when Farmer was killed or by whom.
On Wednesday, investigators spent a lot of their time around a cracked window in the front of the house.
“We need to find answers. There’s a lot of hatred here,” said McCall.
Farmer was described as a loving, caring person who joined the Navy when he was 22-years-old.
He has two kids and five grandchildren.
“We never want to see that. It’s heart-felt. Family is affected. Community is affected. You know, it’s just tough,” said Gregory Sanders with the Memphis Police Department.
Farmer is Memphis’ 41st homicide victim this year.
“Keep us in your prayers, because we are living in some evil times. We are really living in some evil times,” said McCall.
