Several post offices across Tennessee will hold “passport fairs” this week for first-time passport applicants or for people who need to renew.
The post office warned several things have changed this year regarding passports.
Be sure to check your passport’s expiration date long before you plan to travel abroad; many countries require your passport to still be valid for six more months after you enter the country.
And some people may soon need to get a passport just to take a domestic flight. Some states‘ drivers licenses no longer meet federal requirements set by the REAL ID Act.
Tennessee and Mississippi are both compliant with the REAL ID law, but federal agencies and airports will stop accepting Arkansas licenses October 16, 2016.
