MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Deputy Jailer with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was relieved of duty after an investigation revealed she had lied about going to the doctor.
An internal review uncovered that Chiquita White had forged doctor notes in order to excuse several absences from work.
The notes allowed White to receive pay for those days she was not working.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, White was paid more than $2,900 for these days.
She was arrested on Tuesday and charged with five counts of forgery, theft of property $500 to $1,000, and four counts of theft of property $500 or less.
White will not be paid while relieved of duty.
