Hundreds of missed flights and lines for hours: It’s happening at airports across the country.

The TSA plans to add more than 750 security agents to airports next month to help.

But there are three things you can do to help speed up the process through security.

Scott Brockman is President of the Memphis Airport.

3 Things:

  1. Register for TSA Precheck(TSA has an enrollment office here where people can apply in person – it is in the hallway between the B and C ticketing areas close to the United counter)  — There can be big delays on getting these too, however, depending on the particular airport.
  2. Get to the airport at least two hours ahead of time to ensure you have plenty of time to get through security and to your gate. The vast majority of the time this will result in passengers being early down to their gate, but it’s always better to err on the side of caution. For passengers flying out of other airports, passengers may want to check locally for the recommended arrival time. TSA has recommended arriving three hours in advance for some of the larger cities.
  3. Know what you can and can’t bring through the security checkpoint.
