LEE COUNTY, Ark. — A convicted murderer has escaped from prison Monday and is on the loose.
Lloyd Jones, 40, was convicted of first-degree murder. He pleaded guilty in 2012 to strangling a 16-year-old he met online, as well as possession of child pornography and abuse of a corpse, according to KFSM.
Jones was also a registered sex offender, stemming from a rape conviction in 2001. He was released on parole in 2008 for that crime.
He was sentenced to 60 years in prison and was being held in the East Arkansas Regional Unit of the Arkansas Department of Correction, in Lee County.
Authorities described him as a 6-foot, 175-pound white man. He has various tattoos, including a dragon, woman, wizard and castle on his back; dragons on his chest; flames, a skull, a cross and a snake on his upper left arm; and a tribal tattoo on his upper right arm. He also has a scar on his abdomen and now has a beard.
He escaped in a jumpsuit and boots.
His last known address is in Lavaca, Arkansas.
Prison officials said he’s not the first to escape, and they’re reviewing security measures.
